We used to burn like twin-born stars,
Shared secrets stitched in midnight scars.
Laughed in code, and bled in trust,
Now silence wears us down to dust.

Your name still rings inside my chest,
But echoes never let me rest.
I reach, but hands come back with air,
You're somewhere far, and never there.

The calls grew cold. The texts grew thin.
We smiled like strangers locked within.
You changed your path; I lost my map,
And now we drift, a silent gap.

Do you remember what we swore?
That time and space could harm no more?
But years are thieves, and miles lie,
And promises, like people, die.

I kept your gifts in boxes tight,
Each letter folded into night.
The ink still bleeds, though fading fast,
A relic of a bond that passed.

You found new stars to orbit near.
I stayed in shadow, clutching fear.
Not anger now, just hollow ache,
A friendship gone I cannot fake.

We built a bridge from truth and pain,
Now planks rot out beneath the rain.
Did time forget, or did you choose
To let the thread between us loose?

So I don't call. And you don't write.
We haunt each other out of sight.
Old friends? Perhaps. But ghosts instead,
Alive, but walking with the dead.

Yet sometimes still, beneath my skin,
I feel your voice, a distant din.
A laugh I knew, a glance I read,
Like shadows speaking to the dead.

And if you ever think of me,
A flicker lost in memory
Just know I kept the thread we spun,
Frayed, yes, but never quite undone.
